Kindred Knits by Aleks Byrd
Inspired by Aleks Byrd's family, this book explores the love of knitting by Hilja, her grandmother, as well as Maret, her great aunt, and Agnes, her great grandmother. These designs are largely inspired by Hilja's sketchbooks from the 1930s found hidden away in her sister Maret's apartment when clearing it out. These treasured sketchbooks were left behind when Hilja left Estonia in the 1940s. Today the pages of those sketchbooks have inspired knitting patterns with a modern twist pulling together a variety of knitting techniques. A fusion of two knitters from different generations with in each pattern. Welcome to Aleks' Estonian family archives!
